The ride

A fuller loop that goes beyond Bac Ha into the wilder Si Ma Cai hills. If you want remote landscapes, quiet dirt roads and villages that see very few visitors, this is the ride.

Across two days you ride northeast into a part of Lao Cai that most travellers miss, crossing high hills and stopping in communities where traditions remain strong. The pace is adventurous but unhurried.

07:30 — SAPA MEETING

Ride northeast into the rolling hills.

12:30 — LUNCH

Lunch in a small town.

14:30 — SI MA CAI

Continue into the remote Si Ma Cai hills.

17:30 — HOMESTAY

Dinner and overnight in a village.

DAY 02 — 08:30 REMOTE ROADS

Ride the quieter lanes and dirt sections.

DAY 02 — 14:00 RETURN

Begin the ride back to Sapa.
